Abbey's Hope Golf Tournament UPDATE

By all accounts, the 2nd Annual Abbey's Hope Golf Tournament was a huge success and we want to thank everyone who volunteered, played golf, came to dinner, donated time or items to the auction or gift bags or in anyway participated in making this year's tournament even better than last year's. A belated but special thanks to the Walser Foundation, especially Paul and Andrew Walser, Andrea and Alan and the volunteers who have so generously given of their time, energy and money to support Abbey's Hope and our mission to Keep Kids Safe in and around the water.

With your help, we were able to raise over $100,000 for Abbey's Hope and given the economic challenges facing every person, company and non-profit organization, we are thrilled with the turnout and response. Maybe even more importantly, 20 of you signed up to be bone marrow donors Monday night and that means in 2009, Abbey's Hope has been able to facilitate and pay for 60 people new names to the National Registry.

Thank you so much for everything.

I wanted everyone who participated to also know the results of the evenings events.

First off, John Lohmann came within two feet of making a hole-in-one from 165 yards to earn himself $1,000,000. Trust me when I tell you we were pulling for you John!

Secondly, there were four winners of proximity prizes for the day. Karen Quinby won Long Drive for the Women and Rob Bass won Long Drive for the Men. Margarita Johannson won Closest to the Pin for Women and Tim Phippen won for Closest to the Pin for the Men.

The results of the tournament were also equally amazing. We had a 4 way tie for first with a score of 12 under 60, which was settled by a scorecard playoff.
1st Place - John Feltl, John Mueller, Dodd Clasen & Joe Sullivan
2nd Place - Ed Padilla, Rob Bass, Pat Minea & Mike Opitz
3rd Place - Chuck Moorse, David Melloh, Rob Harman & John Wambold

And finally, the 2009 Jeep Wrangler, donated by the Walser Foundation, was won by Leon Cook. We spoke to Leon that night and he was so shocked he didnt sound very excited. The next morning, he was thrilled and expressed his thanks to Greg for encouraging him to buy a ticket. Thanks Greg!

Thank you once again for helping to make it a wonderful event with old friends and new. Abbey was looking down on each of you that day and I can promise you she was pleased with the entire day and that you continue to trust us and help us work to Keep Kid's Safe.

Keep the Faith.
Scott & Katey Taylor, the Abbey's Hope Board of Directors and the Abbey's Hope Golf Committee
